Food truck to deliver a helping hand for local community

November 2022 in Events & Local Area

Tarneit-based charity JET Helping Hands will soon have a food truck ready to serve those in need in the local community thanks to a recent grant from the Westbrook Community Fund.

JET Helping Hands President and Director, Satya Ramadugu says the $1500 grant provided by the Dennis Family Corporation through its Westbrook Community Fund will enable the finishing touches to be completed to the construction of the food truck.

“We are extremely grateful to the Dennis Family Corporation and the Westbrook estate for making this grant possible,” Satya comments.

“The funds are being used to help install the final items of equipment in our food truck. It has been a very big project for us, but the grant is an immense help. The timing is also perfect, as it means we are now assured of having the truck in operation within two months’ time and hopefully ahead of Christmas.”

Established in 2018, JET Helping Hands assists a wide range of humanitarian causes, both locally and internationally. Some of the other important initiatives the charity has been involved with in recent years include bushfire and drought relief, along with supplying food and groceries to the needy during the COVID-19 pandemic. Also, they are hoping to start a mobile food bank next year.

“Our team aims to assist anyone going through hardship wherever we can help in some way,” Satya states.

Prior to being one of the key figures in founding JET Helping Hands, Satya has been involved with various charity work since 2002.  He is both proud and excited that the new food truck is about to become operational and says the mobile facility will make a real difference to many people in need.

“Although our efforts will be concentrated in our core area of Tarneit, Truganina and Hoppers Crossing, the truck will also put to use anywhere in Victoria during any emergency situations,” Satya explains.

“We want to continue to build our presence within the local community. Part of that includes seeking more community support and we always welcome new volunteers. Anyone who may be interested in joining as volunteers can email at info@jhh.org.au at any time.”
