The $10.1 million project delivered by Wyndham City Council is a major active open space designed to serve both local residents and the wider Wyndham community.
Wyndham City Mayor, Councillor Preet Singh, said Fortitude Drive Reserve will become a community destination for local sport.
“This space will be a game-changer for both Truganina and the wider Wyndham community, delivering Wyndham’s second athletics facility and most importantly, an athletics facility that will be open and accessible for all the community to use.”
Stage 2 works will include a sporting pavilion, public amenities and a synthetic hockey pitch.
“The upcoming pavilion will complement these fantastic new outdoor spaces and make Fortitude Drive Reserve a true destination for local sport,” Cr Singh said.
Fortitude Drive Reserve is located to the south of Bemin Secondary College’s senior campus on Morris Road.
The reserve forms part of Wyndham’s long-term strategy to deliver more than 15 active open space reserves across Tarneit North and Truganina as the population grows.
The project has also been supported by a $908,000 Victorian Government grant.
