If you are planning a caravan trip over the festival season, whether it be your own van, hiring a van or booking an onsite caravan or cabin, here are a few simple safety habits can help protect your van and belongings so you can focus on enjoying your holiday.
Smart parking
- Choose a spot that’s well-lit and visible
- Park so your tow bar/hitch faces away from the main access point
- Keep your van in busy, open areas where possible
Secure your setup
- Use tow bar/hitch locks and wheel clamps whenever you unhitch
- Add quality padlocks to awnings and stabiliser legs
- Activate alarms and motion-sensor lights if you have them
Lock up before you head out
- Always lock all doors, windows and hatches
- Avoid leaving spare keys hidden near your van
- Use interior lights or a radio to give the impression someone’s home
Protect your gear
