HELPING TO CREATE A COMMUNITY AT WESTBROOK!

April 2023 in Meet Your Neighbours
So, you’ve built your new home at the brand new stylish and modern Westbrook estate.
But creating a community is about more than just building ‘nice’ houses. Most of us crave safety and connection, and the best way to achieve this is by getting to know our neighbours.
Here are our top suggestions for connecting with your neighbours and fostering a little neighbourhood spirit along the way.
SAY “HELLO” AND WAVE.
When you’re out and about, why not give your neighbours a wave and a smile and say “hello”. A small interaction can really brighten someone’s day.
LEND A GREEN THUMB.
If you’re mowing your own lawn or nature strip, why not offer to mow your neighbour’s too! You could also help with weeding or trimming back shrubs.
BRIGHTEN THEIR DAY WITH A HOMEMADE SURPRISE.
A bouquet of flowers or a potted cutting from your garden is a lovely gesture. Or if you love baking why not offer a plate of home-baked treats.
REGULAR CHECK-IN AND CHAT.
If your neighbours are elderly, live alone or have disabilities, offer to call them every few days to make sure they are doing okay. But always check to see what their preferred way to communicate is – make it as easy as possible for them.
JOIN THE WESTBROOK NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH GROUP.
Help watch out for – and report – unusual behaviour as well as create and distribute the residents' newsletter. Get together with your neighbours and work out what everyone’s key priorities are, what each person can contribute and what will make the biggest impact. Click here to join the Facebook group
