Whether you're a golfer, a foodie, a lover of the great outdoors or just looking for something fun to amuse the kids on the weekend, there’s no shortage of fantastic attractions and activities guaranteed to keep the whole family entertained, all within 30 minutes of Westbrook.
Here are our top five suggestions guaranteed to entertain the whole family this summer!
Step back in time at Werribee Park & Mansion
If you’re looking for some open space to let the kids explore, then Werribee Park is definitely for you. With over 10 hectares of beautiful formal gardens and open space parkland they can venture round for free, this historic location is sure to impress.
A highlight of any visit is Werribee Mansion. Built in the late 19th century and one of Victoria’s most beautiful examples of Italianate architecture, the Mansion is open to the public for a small admission fee.
And if you’re up for it, head to the Mansion at night to experience the Haunted Tour to hear the fascinating (and spooky) stories about the founding family. Make sure you have your wits about you as the roaming theatrical performance will definitely have you asking, “What was that?” as you turn each corner.

Go Wild at Werribee Open Range Zoo
The Werribee Open Range Zoo is another popular destination for family excursions. The Zoo is open range so you can get up close and personal with the African wildlife. Plus, there is even a safari tour where you can see giraffes and zebras! This is a great day out for the whole family, with children’s entry free on weekends and school holidays.
As well as checking out the most amazing animals from around the world, you can also enjoy African music, African inspired food and a range of kids’ activities!

Dive on in at AquaPulse - https://aquapulse.wynactive.com.au/
If you want to learn to swim, reach a health and fitness goal, entertain the family or just sit and relax in the café, AquaPulse at Hoppers Crossing is also high on our list – especially on a hot summer’s day!
Just a short drive down the road from Westbrook, AquaPulse features a huge variety of fun, fitness and health services and facilities. Check out the huge indoor aquatic and leisure centre, with enough slipping, sliding and swimming activities on offer to keep the kids entertained for hours!
Little ones will love the fantastic aquatic playground, which features twin slides, two tube slides, water cannons, water spray features, tipping cones and a giant tipping bucket which creates a massive wash of water to the delighted shrieks of those waiting below, while older kids and adults are guaranteed to experience plenty of thrills on the two giant waterslides (said to be the biggest in Victoria!) which snake their way along outside the building.
With five pools in total, plus a gym, sauna, creche, kindergarten, shop and café, AquaPulse is calling your name this summer. So, grab your swimmers and a towel and head on down.
Get your Golf On.
If golf is more your thing, whether you’re a beginner or have a handicap to rival Adam Scott, the City of Wyndham boasts some fantastic golf courses catering to everyone from the weekend warrior to seasoned golf pro. One of our favourites is Laverton’s RAAF Williams Golf Course located just 10 minutes down the road from Westbrook. The course provides a challenging and enjoyable game of golf for players of all levels, from beginners through to the more serious and experienced golfer and, no matter what your playing level, you will find a challenge.
Both competition and social golfers are well catered for, with two main competition days each week for both men and women, on Wednesday and Saturdays.
The course itself has nine grass greens and 18 tees, a practice green and a grassed practice driving range. If you are looking for an affordable Golf Club in the local area, this could be it!
The bar and clubrooms open on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday mornings and locals maintain the Club’s Saturday morning coffee and egg and bacon roll combination is one of the best on the planet!
Get on your bike.
There are also plenty of great cycling tracks in and around Westbrook, but one of the best is the picturesque Federation Trail, a safe off-road track, sealed path suitable for pedestrians and cyclists of every level of experience, which runs between Werribee and Brooklyn.
Connecting the cities of Brimbank, Hobsons Bay and Wyndham, the full length of the Trail is 24 kilometres from end to end, taking most cyclists between 1 and 2 hours to ride, and it follows the historic reservation of Werribee’s Main Outfall Sewer (MOS).
Starting out from Millers Road in Brooklyn, the shared path follows the MOS reserve through the western Melbourne suburbs of Brooklyn, Laverton North and Truganina. After crossing the aqueduct over Skeleton Creek, it then travels south along Skeleton Creek Reserve, before passing under the Melbourne-Geelong rail line and following the rail reserve towards Hoppers Lane.
From Hoppers Lane the Trail re-joins the MOS reserve adjacent to the Princes Freeway at the Maltby Bypass and trail continues along the northern side of the freeway before crossing Duncan’s Road and following the path underneath a curtain of large cypress trees until it reaches the Werribee River – the ideal spot to relax and enjoy some well-deserved refreshments at the end of your bike ride!
